By these rules my GTI is a shooting brake.

And how exactly do you define the difference?

Idk, I thought a shooting brake was a 2 door wagon, meaning it still had a lot of booty potential.

3 row jump seat, or at least functional space without dropping the back seats.
Really, Im just messing with you, for the most part 4 doors, and a hatch is pretty wagon on paper. My pet peeve is the lack of actual room, like the wrx/sti hatch backs, they’re 5 doors sure, but they dont have much room to work with, so if you have a dog of size you have to drop the seats.
so to summerize: if you can fit 5 people, and their shit then its a wagon. Otherwise its a 4 door hatch back.

I have had a shooting brake then. My first car was a 1988 VW Polo Ranger

I was going to talk a bit of poo-poo about your definition, but you summarized it pretty good with your last statement.

Hahaha, the important thing is that you like what you drive.

I feel like the definition to me is a window behind the rear doors, which would make this a wagon.

Nah, it cant just have a 3rd “window” and be a wagon. That thrid window has to be at least the same size as the back doors or bigger. “Portholes” dont count. Booty volume is what counts.
